Weekend Preview: GLORY 53, Enfusion, Kunlun Fight

Sitthichai Beztati Poster

There are a number of events taking place this weekend. GLORY returns to France. Enfusion has their fourth show in four weeks, as they have a big show in The Hague, Netherlands. Meanwhile, Kunlun Fight 74 has a 61.5kg 8 man tournament. There are some smaller shows on the calendar as well.

GLORY 53
GLORY 53 features two title matches. In the headline bout, lightweight champion Sitthichai Sitsongpeenong defends his title against young upstart Tyjani Beztati. Beztati, 16-2(6), has only lost once competing for GLORY, a points defeat to Stoyan Koprivienski last December. He’s beaten some talented fighters such as Niclas Larsen, but the young Dutch-Moroccan doesn’t figure to have more than the proverbial puncher’s chance against the Thai superstar. Sitthichai looked as sharp as ever in soundly defeating Chris Baya on points in February, and has a huge edge in professional experience-over 150 professional fights compared to Beztati’s listed 18. Beztati does have a big size advantage though, and if he is able to make his size and power factors, he may have a shot.

Anissa Meksen will face Amel Dehby in a GLORY Super Bantamweight Title bout. With both fighters being French, national bragging rights will be on the line in addition to championship gold.

Prior to the GLORY 53 main card, the GLORY 53 Superfight Series will take place. Cedric Doumbe headlines against Thongchai, and the charismatic Doumbe vowed a more aggressive style after two straight split decision losses. The Superfight Series took a hit when Mohamed Jaraya and Jason Wilnis had to pull out of their bouts because of injury, but there is still a four man featherweight tournament in addition to the Doumbe-Sitsongpeenong bout.

Here are the complete cards (subject to change) for GLORY 53, GLORY 53 Superfight Series, and the GLORY 53 Prelims.

Enfusion #67 The Hague
Enfusion 67 takes place Saturday in The Hague, Netherlands. There are two title fights scheduled for the main card, including a 75kg title scrap between Redouan Laarkoobi and Aziz Kallah. Laarkobi has had a busy year-he beat Nordin van roosmalen by close decision to win the belt but was dominated by Endy Semeleer in March in Abu Dhabi. Kallah is a tough customer, and it should be a good one.
Semeleer faces Nordin Ben Moh in a 72kg matchup, and Ismael Benali faces Paul Jansen in a 70kg battle. There’s also a female title fight on the card.

The Enfusion card is available on pay per view through Fite TV or to subscribers of the Enfusion Live website.
