GLORY Middleweight World Champion and Interim Light Heavyweight Champion Alex “Poatan” Pereira will defend his middleweight crown against number-one ranked contender Ertugrul Bayrak on 21 December in Arnhem, Netherlands.
The Pereira-Bayrak world title fight is part of the GLORY: Collison 2 event featuring the long-awaited rematch between the organization’s heavyweight champion Rico Verhoeven and Badr Hari.
Pereira will be moving back down in weight after a successful debut in the light heavyweight division. The Brazilian bomber won the GLORY Interim Light Heavyweight Title via second-round stoppage over Donegi Abena at GLORY 68 in Miami in September. Since capturing the middleweight belt from Simon Marcus in China in October 2017, Pereira has successfully defended the title on four occasions. Three of his title defenses have been won inside the distance-two in the first round.
Bayrak, a native of Turkey based in the Netherlands, is unbeaten in two starts with GLORY. The Turk successfully debuted with a split decision win against current number-two middleweight Donovan Wisse at GLORY 62 in December 2018. In March, Bayrak outpointed Jakub Styben over three rounds at GLORY 64 in Strasbourg, France.
The announcement was made by GLORY Kickboxing Brasil on Twitter.
The Pereira-Bayrak title bout is the second confirmed support bout for the Verhoeven-Hari rematch. Last week, it was announced popular Moroccan Mohamed Jaraya will face Massaro Glunder in a lightweight matchup.
