Two-time K-1 World Max Champion and legend Buakaw Banchamek will now face Chris “The African Warrior” Ngimbi at the MAS Fight event in Cambodia on 27 October.
Ngimbi, 33, is a replacement for China’s Yuan Bin. Fighting out of Belgium by way of the Democratic Republic of Congo, Ngimbi is a longtime veteran of the sport, previously holding titles in the It’s Showtime and Superkombat organizations.
Ngimbi competed twice last year in the ONE Championship organization, defeating Armen Petrosyan by split decison and losing unanimously to Yodsanklai IWE Fairtex. He’ll get a chance against another Muay Thai legend in Buakaw.
The bout will be held under MAS Fight rules. A bout consists of a single nine-minute round with the fighters wearing 5 oz gloves. A fighter can only win by KO or TKO. If neither fighter kayos his opponent, the fight is ruled a draw. Elbows, knees, and standing submissions are permitted under MAS Fight rules.
