GLORY 69 Rumors
GLORY Welterweight Champion Cedric Doumbe and former titleholder Murthel Groenhart have gone back and forth on social media recently, and it’s rumored both fighters will be in action at GLORY 69 on 12 October.
They won’t be facing each other though.
Word is the two fighters will compete in separate bouts, with a potential trilogy bout forthcoming if both men are victorious.
Doumbe and Groenhart met twice previously in GLORY, with each holding a decision win over the other.
Doumbe defeated the Mike’s Gym fighter in 2016 via unanimous decision at GLORY 28, with Groenhart ending Doumbe’s first reign as welterweight champion with a split decision nod atGlory 44 in August 2017.
Hard-hitting middleweight Ulrik Bokeme will be in action on the card, as first reported by Dutch website Vechtsport Info NL. Bokeme will be making his GLORY debut after a good run in Enfusion, which included a win against veteran Filip Verlinden.
In other GLORY news, there’s a new addition to the Glory Girls roster. The Glory Girls announced Anna Maria Olbrycht has joined the team.
Ms. Olbrycht is a model who created her own swimwear line and has over 65,000 followers on Instagram. She stands approximately 5’7 1/2 tall with green eyes and measurements of 34-23-34.5, according to a “tale of the tape” by the Wilhelmina modeling agency.
Ilunga Returns in October
Former It’s Showtime champ and longtime Glory contender Danyo “Dibuba” Ilunga will be back in action in October.
The African warrior announced his next bout will take place at the Steko’s Fight Club event taking place on 3 October at the Circus Krone in Munich, Germany. No mention of an opponent.
The October bout will be Ilunga’s second straight for the Steko’s organization. He defeated Dutch veteran Fred Sikking via second-round TKO in June.
After that win, Ilunga returned to his native Democratic Republic of Congo and received a warm welcome, including meetings with the chief of his tribe, a police chief, and the DRC’s Secretary of State.
