KOK: Big Plans for Balkans

The King of Kings organization is planning big things for 2020, including events in the Balkan nations of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Montenegro, North Macedonia, and Serbia, according to a FightBox HD article authored by commentator Daniel Austin.

KOK held its first event in Bosnia this past July, and it was a solid event. North Macedonian heavyweight Aleksandr Dimovski won a four-man heavyweight tournament, and Bosnian legend Dzevad Poturak won the KOK Europe Heavyweight Title via second-round TKO over late replacement Dritan Barjamaj.

There’s a lot of talented fighters in the region, and it’s great to see them gain greater exposure with KOK. Enfusion has also established a presence, with the Dutch organization holding an event in Belgrade in June.

Also mentioned in the article, KOK is planning 24 events total for 2020, with Poland and Russia on the list, in addition to Austria, Belarus, Germany, the U.K., and Ukraine.

Glory Kickboxing Signs Emiev

The Glory Kickboxing promotion has signed Russian fighter Arbi “The Aggressor” Emiev to a contract. The announcement was made Tuesday by Emiev’s promoter, Akhmat Kickboxing.

Emiev has recently been competing for the Germany-based Mix Fight Championship promotion. He lost a close-split decision to Uzbekistan’s Bobir Tagiev in June, in a bout where the fighters wore MMA gloves instead of regular kickboxing gloves.

Emiev has been competing between 70 and 72 kg recently, so he’ll likely be fighting in Glory’s stacked 70 kg (lightweight) category. The hard-nosed competitor is a veteran of over 50 professional contests.

Romanian promotion Colosseum Tournament announced its next event, Colosseum Tournament XVI, will take place on Friday October 25 in Sibiu, Romania. The event will be broadcast on Digi Sport in Romania, FightBox internationally, and also available as a pay-per-view on Fite TV.

Yegoian Out of Tatneft Cup Semifinals

Dutch-Armenian fighter Jegish “The Armenian Lion” Yegoian is unable to compete at the Tafneft Cup 2019 Semifinals event taking place this Friday in Kazan, Tatarstan, Russia. The TNA Fights organization officially announced the news today.

The Hemmer’s Gym fighter fractured his arm during his August quarterfinal win over Gokhan Gedik. With the arm still injured, Yegoian is unable to compete Friday.

Matthieu Kongolo of Belgium replaces Yegoian. Kongolo faces Francesco Xhaja of Albania in one +80 kg semifinal, while Piotr Romankevich meets Claudio Istrate in the other with the winners battling it out for the tournament title later this year.
