Kehl Challenges Petrosyan

Top German fighter Enriko “The Hurricane” Kehl has challenged ONE Featherweight Kickboxing Champion Giorgio Petrosyan to a rematch.

Kehl defeated the champion’s brother Armen Petrosyan via second-round stoppage at the ONE: Age of Dragons event last weekend in China, and says he wants another chance at the Italian legend.

Giorgio Petrosyan defeated Kehl by majority decision at an Oktagon event in Italy in 2015.

According to Kehl, the bout was close and “home advantage” played a role.

“Originally I wanted to do this on Saturday after my victory against @armenpetrosyan86 , but I didn’t get the chance to do it in the ring,” Kehl wrote on social media.

“I wanted to challenge @giorgiopetrosyan to a rematch. We already fought each other in 2015. But in his homeland Italy. The fight was close and he won with home advantage.”

“Now after I have defeated his brother, ONE could give us the opportunity to have a rematch on neutral ground.”

“So I hope that ONE will give me this opportunity and that Giorgio will accept this fight.”

Kehl, the 2014 K-1 Max World Champion, debuted with ONE Championship earlier this year. He’s 2-1 in the organization, with stoppage wins over Armen Petrosyan and England’s Liam Nolan.

His sole loss was via decision to Dzhabar Askerov in the quarterfinals of the ONE Featherweight Kickboxing Grand Prix. Giorgio Petrosyan won the tournament and a $1,000,000 prize.
