Gershon Injured-Jauncey to Face Nelson
Israeli lightweight contender Itay Gershon suffered a broken rib in training and is off the GLORY 68 card taking place on 28 September in Miami, Florida. Glory Kickboxing announced the injury Saturday.
Gershon, ranked seventh in the 70 kg weight division, was scheduled to face fifth-ranked Josh Jauncey. Jauncey will now face once-beaten South African Lorawnt-t Nelson.
The Jauncey-Nelson bout will be part of the GLORY 68 main card. Both fighters are coming off a loss. Jauncey (30-9) lost a decision to second-ranked Tyjani Beztati at GLORY 65 in May.
Nelson went unbeaten in his first seven professional bouts before a split-decision defeat to Wensheng Zhang at GLORY 63 in February.
Maslobojev Debut Delayed
Sergej “Kuvalda” Maslobojev will make his Glory debut on the GLORY 69 card taking place on 12 October in Dusseldorf, Germany.
The Lithuanian star, the reigning KOK World Light Heavyweight Champion, was previously scheduled to debut against American fighter John King at GLORY 68.
In addition to a new date, Maslobojev also has a new opponent. The “Sledgehammer” will face Bahram Rajabzadeh instead of King.
Rajabzadeh hails from the talent-rich nation of Azerbaijan, and will also be making his Glory debut. Nicknamed “The Golden Wolf”, Rajabzadeh defeated Czech veteran Jan Soukup by stoppage at the XFN Legends gala in March.
