The fight is ON!
Two of the world’s elite heavyweight kickboxers will again do battle when GLORY Heavyweight Champion Rico Verhoeven faces nemesis Badr Hari on 21 December at the GelreDome in Arnhem, Netherlands.
GLORY Kickboxing made the bout official today. The fight will be scheduled for the championship distance of five rounds, although it’s unknown whether Verhoeven’s heavyweight belt will be at stake in the long-awaited rematch.
In case you missed the first bout, Verhoeven defeated Hari by second-round TKO in December 2016 when Hari couldn’t continue because of an arm injury in a close bout. There is certainly unfinished business between the two of them, with bragging rights for heavyweight supremacy in the Netherlands and around the world at stake.
GLORY Kickboxing issued a press release earlier today with quotes from both fighters and the organization’s CEO Marshall Zelaznik.
“This is the fight that everybody wanted. And mark my words, I always finish what I start! No use running away this time.”
“I know exactly what to expect from this fight but he doesn’t have any idea of who is coming after him. Rico will be facing Badr Hari for the first time.”
GLORY CEO Marshall Zelaznik
“Millions of people across the planet have been waiting for this. This is the fight the fans want, it’s the fight Rico wants and it’s the fight Badr wants.”
“This is the biggest fight in the history of the sport and GLORY has been able to put it together to end 2019 in a huge way.”
