Many young fighters from Europe and America dream of fighting in Asia, the birthplace and spiritual home of the martial arts.
This Saturday, eight hungry fighters will get a chance to make the dream come true, as SuperfightSeries presents SFS VII at the Brentwood International Centre, in Brentwood, Essex.
There are four man tournaments scheduled in the 65 and 70 kg weight categories (143 and 154 lbs). The winners will receive one thousand pounds prize money and two fight contracts to compete in China. The second fight of the contract is not guaranteed: the fighter must win their first bout in China to land the second fight.
In addition, rising female phenom Nicola “The Burmese Python” Barke pursues her first professional title. Barke has already fought and won in China, and recently won a four woman tournament at SFS VI.
Crowd-pleasing 70 kg fighter Andy Turland is also scheduled for action. Turland was a tournament runner up at SFS VI, and looks to get back in the win column.
In all, 17 pro bouts are scheduled and another 11 amateur bouts.
Here is the fight card. Doors open at 1pm, with first bell scheduled for 2 pm.
The event will be available for tape delayed viewing on the Fite TV channel.
