Yodsanklai Avenges Defeat

Over ten years after their first encounter, Yodsanklai Fairtex avenged his loss to fellow legend Andy Souwer, knocking out the K-1 legend in the second round Sunday in Tokyo, Japan. The kickboxing-rules bout was part of the ONE: A New Era MMA and kickboxing event promoted by ONE Championship.

The Muay Thai legend knocked down Souwer twice during the contest. After the second down, Souwer failed to beat the count and the fight was stopped.

The two fighters first fought in the Netherlands in 2008. Souwer won an extra-round decision but some felt Yodsanklai did enough to earn the victory.

Fairtex is now 3-0 in ONE Super Series competition with two wins by stoppage. Yodsanklai defeated Luis Regis and Chris Ngimbi in previous contests. Souwer has lost both his bouts in the Super Series.

In another kickboxing rules contest, Joseph Lasiri defeated Hiroki Akimoto by majority decision.

It was the Italian fighter’s first win in the ONE Super Series. Lasiri lost bouts to Singtongnoi, Jonathan Haggerty, and Josh Tonna in previous ONE appearances.

Rodtang defeated Hakim Hakech by split decision in a Muay Thai rules bout.

In another bout held under Muay Thai rules, Panicos Yusuf prevailed over Mohammed Bin Mahmoud by unanimous decision.
