WGP Middleweight Champion Bruno Gazani will defend his title against number-one contender Damian Segovia in the challenger’s hometown of Buenos Aires, Argentina. The organization announced the bout as the headliner of the WGP 56 event taking place on 2 August.
Brazil’s Gazani is a come forward fighter with a fan-friendly style. He’s coming off a questionable decision victory over Petros Cabelinho in April. Cabelinho had height and reach advantages over Gazani, and outlanded the champion but came up short on the judges’ scorecards.
Segovia has won four of his last five bouts, and defeated Janio Carvalho by split decision at WGP 50 in his last outing.
The bout will be contested for both the WGP Middleweight Title and the World Association of Kickboxing Organizations (WAKO) Pan-American Title.
