WGP Kickboxing, the best-known kickboxing promotion in South America, returned Friday night with an event in Buenos Aires.
Argentina’s Facu Suarez made history with a split decision over Leo Corrales of Brazil to win the WGP Lightweight (-60 kg) Title. With the win, Suarez is the first Argentine to hold a championship in the WGP organization.
The main event featured another Brazil vs Argentina battle as WGP Middleweight Champion Bruno Gazani faced top ranked challenger Damian Segovia. Brazil’s Gazani prevailed by split decision. The WAKO Pan American Title was also at stake in the match.
A four-woman tournament was held to select a challenger for the WGP Women’s Lightweight Champion Nina Loch. Andrea Salazar of Argentina defeated Diana Solano of Colombia and Brazil’s Diana Moraes to win the Challenger GP tournament.
Kunlun Fight veteran Jordan Kranio defeated Nikolas Vega via unanimous decision in a super fight.
