Veteran Bessmertny Out of Tatneft Cup

Belorussian veteran Yury Bessmertny ((41-20-2) suffered an injury and withdrew from his Tatneft Cup quarterfinal bout with Sergey Ponomarev scheduled for this Friday July 26. Promoter TNA Fights announced the news today.

Dmitry Baranov, another fighter from Belarus, has stepped in to face Ponomaryov.

In another late change to the fight card, China’s Li Xiaolong has been replaced. Li was scheduled to face Zhora Akopyan of Armenia in a -70 kg quarterfinal bout, but had “visa problems” according to the organization. Russia’s Janis Budagov accepted the bout on late notice and will face Akopyan.

Friday’s Tatneft Cup event is the first stage of the quarterfinal round. The action will be broadcast on Match TV in Russia, and internationally in the English language on FightBox HD. Fans without access to either channel can catch replays on the Tatneft Cup YouTube channel.
