There will be no loser when American fighters Chad Trammel and Ricky Guillen do battle at Lion Fight 50 on November 3. Both fighters have already shown their character in overcoming injury and illness that would have caused many to throw in the towel.
Trammel, fighting out of Thailand by way of Texas with a record of 7-2, was badly injured in a motorcycle accident. Among the injuries he suffered were “a partially broken spine”, “a ruptured kidney and spleen”, and broken ribs. Trammel persevered and now finds himself battling Guillen at Lion Fight 50, a high-profile Muay Thai event at the LA Coliseum being broadcast nationally on the CBS Sports Network.
“The words playing in my head for three years are from The Roots song The Fire – ‘You don’t say good luck, you say don’t give up. It’s the fire inside you, let it burn,” Trammel said in the Lion Fight press release.
The unbeaten Guillen (2-0) has also overcome his share of battles outside the ring. He’s survived a testicular cancer diagnosis, and also overcome a broken neck suffered in an automobile accident.
“It is truly incredible what both of these fighters have overcome, and now to be part of Lion Fight 50, it is a testament of their courage and dedication to Muay Thai,” said Lion Fight CEO Scott Kent in the press release.
“I know fans have their favorites, but how can you not cheer for both of these competitors? They are spectacular examples of warrior spirit,” added Kent.
New Lion Fight Website Coming Soon
Both Trammel and Guillen will tell their stories on the new Lion Fight Promotions website that is launching soon.
