Two of the United Kingdom’s top K-1 rules heavyweight fighters will meet at the KGP event taking place on 13 July in London.
Second-ranked Arnold “The Lithuanian Lion” Oborotov and third-rated Lukasz “BIG Polski” Krupadziorow will meet in the KGP 22 main event. The fight was officially announced Friday.
Oborotov fights out of the Bloodline Gym. He’s probably best known internationally as a competitor in the 2012 K-1 World Grand Prix, where he lost a decision to Jarrell “Big Baby” Miller in the Final 16. Oborotov has been in good form in recent years, and defeated GLORY fighter Stephane Susperregui at the Fight Night St Tropez last year.
BIG Polski’s biggest international bout came in May 2017. In a fight that was broadcast throughout Europe and also in the United States, Krupadziorow faced Romanian superstar Catalin Morosanu at a Superkombat event in Madrid.
Krupadziorow lost the bout by unanimous decision. Since that time, he’s primarily fought in China, where the money is often better. Polski has been campaigning successfully for the Faith Fight organization. He fights out of the Storm Gym in Luton under coach Amir Subasic.
The current top ranked UK K-1 rules heavyweight is veteran Daniel Sam. Polski defeated Sam by decision back in 2014.
