Promoter TNA Fights announced Thursday it rejected an appeal by fighter Saifullah Hambakhadov.
Hambakhadov, a -70 kg fighter fighting out of the Russian Federation, fought unbeaten Vadim Vaskov of Belarus at a Tatneft Cup event in February.
Because neither fighter scored an eight count or knockdown or had a point deducted, the fight automatically went to an extra round.
After the fourth round, the decision went to Vaskov, a young fighter from the Gridin Gym, where Roman Kryklia and Chingiz Allazov also train.
Hambakhadov then filed an appeal in writing, as required by Tatneft Cup rules.
Tatneft Cup judges held a meeting and the decision was explained and allowed to stand. According to “side judges” (translated), Vaskov had a “technical advantage” compared to Hambakhadov.
Vaskov advances to the next round of the tournament.
The next Tatneft Cup event takes place on 26 April.
