The fight business can even be dangerous out of the ring. Just ask Greek fighter Stergos Mikkios, who faces Mohammed Bin Mahmoud Friday in a ONE Super Series bout at One: Destiny of Champions in Malaysia.
In an interview with Thomas Taylor of MMA news site bjpenn.com, Mikkios says his former manager failed to get him fights and broke promises about getting him an apartment and sponsors. Later, after the manager found out Mikkios told another manager about his problems with the first manager, he was attacked and one of the attackers had a gun.
Mikkios wants to “get it out there to the new generation” to be careful about who they deal with to manage them.
