Young heavyweight contender Junior “The Juggernaut” Tafa will face Cihad Kepenek of Turkey at GLORY 65 on May 17 in Utrecht, Netherlands, according to a tweet by Birol Topuz. Topuz Sports Management represents the Turkish fighter.
GLORY Kickboxing has yet to officially announce the bout.
Tafa is coming off a loss to Jamal Ben Saddik at the GLORY 62 heavyweight tournament in December. The Australian power-puncher was knocked down and stopped by “The Goliath”, who went on to win the eight-man affair and secure top contender status.
Tafa has earned a reputation as a big hitter with first-round stoppage wins over the likes of Americans Haze Wilson and Anthony McDonald. He also stopped Quanchan Luo of China in less than a round at GLORY 46 in Guangzhou. He’s currently ranked fifth in the heavyweight division.
Kepenek returns to GLORY after a three year absence. The Turkish fighter lost to contender Tomas Mozny via unanimous decision at GLORY 29 in April 2016.
Tickets for GLORY 65 at the Central Studios in Utrecht go on sale to the general public this Monday April 8.
