Italian legend Gevorg “Giorgio” Petrosyan received another honor Tuesday. The former K-1 Max Grand Prix winner was announced as the winner in the “Performance of the Year” category from promoter ONE Championship. The organization made the announcement yesterday.
Petrosyan competed twice in the ONE Super Series in 2018. He made his debut in April with a unanimous decision win over Lion Fight veteran Jo Nattawut.
For his second bout, the promotion matched Petrosyan with Lumpinee champion Sorgraw Petchyindee.
Petrosyan was again victorious, and his performance was impressive enough for the organization to select him as the winner of best performance honors.
Sandwiched between Petrosyan’s wins over Nattawut and Sorgraw was a summer victory over K-1 champion Chingiz Allazov for the Bellator Kickboxing Lightweight Championship. Based on his three impressive wins in 2018, the Armenian-Italian phenom should be given serious consideration for Kickboxer of the Year.
