Enfusion 72.5 kg World Champion Tayfun “Turkish Turbine” Ozcan is moving down in weight to challenge reigning 70 kg king Jonay Risco on 6 December in Abu Dhabi. Enfusion made the bout official Monday.
It’s the second champion vs champion match up for Ozcan this year. He successfully defended his 72.5 kg belt with a decision victory over 75 kg champion Endy “Bad News” Semeleer in February. The Turkish fighter hasn’t fought since, but is back in action in France next month against Mohamed Hendouf.
Risco hasn’t fought recently due to injury. The Spanish fighter was injured and withdrew from a scheduled 30 March title defense against Superbon in Tenerife. Risco had an outstanding 2018. He defeated Buakaw Banchamek, Davit Kiria, and Nordin Ben Moh last year.
The Risco-Ozcan clash is a rematch of a bout fought back in 2017. Risco defeated Ozcan by TKO due to an injury sustained by Ozcan (video below).
Also scheduled for the year-end event in Abu Dhabi is a four-man €25,000 heavyweight tournament. Giannis Stoforidis of Greece already clinched a spot with his victory at Enfusion 84.
