Singapore-based promotion ONE Championship today announced it reached an agreement with American broadcasting giant Turner Sports for its events to be broadcast in North America.
One is primarily an MMA promotion, but does promote kickboxing and Muay Thai bouts under the ONE Super Series banner. Giorgio Petrosyan, Yodsanklai, Andy Souwer, and Nieky Holzken are among the top kickboxers and Muay Thai practitioners who appear on ONE events.
ONE recently made a splash by signing MMA free agents Eddie Alvarez and Sage Northcutt, both well-known MMA fighters with fan followings in the UFC. It’s expected the organization will promote live events in Europe and North America in the future along with its events in Asia.
According to the statement released by ONE, the organization’s deal with Turner Sports is an “exclusive multi-year contract” and begins in January 2019. Under the terms of the agreement, ONE events will air live on Turner’s B/R Live streaming platform, along with “shoulder programming”. TNT, the cable and satellite channel owned by Turner, “will televise at least 12 one-hour, taped re-airs featuring ONE events throughout the year”. The TNT re-airs will be available to over 90 million households in the U.S. that receive the channel.
The promotion has 24 events scheduled for 2019. The Turner deal starts with ONE: ETERNAL GLORY, which takes place on 19 January in Indonesia.
