On March 31, Singapore-based ONE Championship debuts in Japan. It’s a momentous occasion for ONE, as the promotion heads to a country steeped in martial arts tradition that has hosted many of the greatest events in kickboxing and mixed martial arts history.
To commemorate this special debut, ONE has loaded the fight card with many of the organization’s top stars. Japanese MMA star Shinya Aoki challenges for the league’s lightweight MMA title in the main event.
Former UFC champions Eddie Alvarez and Demetrious Johnson are scheduled to make their ONE debuts in newly launched Grand Prix tournaments, and there are also MMA title bouts scheduled.
ONE hasn’t forgotten about its kickboxing and Thai boxing fans. There are four Super Series bouts scheduled, including the previously announced, long-awaited rematch between Muay Thai legend Yodsanklai Fairtex and 2005 and 2007 K-1 World Max GP Champion Andy Souwer.
Here is the current fight card. In addition to Fairtex-Souwer II, Hiroki Akimoto meets Joseph Lasiri in a kickboxing rules bout.
Rodtang faces Hakim Hamech in a Muay Thai bout, with another Thai-rules contest between Panicos Yusuf and Mohammed Bin Mahmoud rounding out the Super Series portion of the card.
