News and Notes: Glory 50, Enfusion, Dennis Warner

Here’s some news and notes for a Wednesday. It’s going to be a busy weekend for kickboxing fans, with the Glory 50 Superfight Series, Glory 50, and Enfusion 61 and 62.

Murthel Heavily Favored Over Grigorian
Glory Welterweight champion Murthel Groenhart is a big favorite over Harut Grigorian with the bookmakers heading into their title fight at Glory 50 Friday night in Chicago. The Dutch fighter is listed as a -405 favorite over Grigorian with Costa Rica based sportsbook BetDSI. Groenhart defeated Grigorian by second round stoppage last year, but the finish was controversial in some observers’ eyes because Groenhart scored the knockout blow while Grigorian’s back was turned. Grigorian was dazed from a knee and turned his back then got dropped with a big right hook.  It was a legal shot, but some felt Groenhart shouldn’t have thrown the last punch since Grigorian was obviously dazed. Grigorian definitely seems to be a long shot based on the last fight. He was hurt in both the first and second rounds, and will need to be mindful of eating jumping knees and big punches while he tries to close the distance.

Bennie Adegbuyi is a slight favorite over D’Angelo Marshall, and Guto Inocente is favored over  young New Zealand power puncher Junior Tafa in the heavyweight tournament semifinals. Lightweight champion Sittichai is favored at -230 over challenger Chris “Bad News” Baya. The Sittichai-Baya fight is not part of the Glory 50 main card, but the main event of the Glory 50 Superfight Series which will be streamed live on UFC Fight Pass prior to Glory 50.

Enfusion Announces May 5 Event
Enfusion will hold an event in Tenerife, Spain on May 5. The Netherlands based promotion announced the show on social media this week. The third round of the Enfusion League 85KG tournament will take place on the show.

Semeleer Back in Action March 9
Endy Semeleer of the Netherlands defeated Diogo Calado, Mohamed Khamal, and Superbon all in the same night to win last year’s Enfusion 72.5 KG tournament finals in Abu Dhabi. That’s an impressive accomplishment, even more so considering Semeleer is only 22 years old. “Bad News Endy” is scheduled to return to action on March 9 in Abu Dhabi against the tough Aziz Khallah at Enfusion #63.
