News: Glory Makes Rumored NYC Card Official, Kunlun MMA event Friday in Russia, KOK Update

GLORY Kickboxing announced this morning that GLORY 55 will take place on Friday July 20 at the Hulu Theater at Madison Square Garden in New York City. A pair of title fight rematches will headline the card.

Robin van Roosmalen, the reigning featherweight champion and a former lightweight champion, defends his title against top Thai contender Petchpanomrung Kiatmookao. It’s a rematch of their May 2017 encounter. van Roosmalen beat Kiatmookao by majority decision to retain his title. Kiatmookao has looked good in recent fights and earned another shot with impressive stoppage wins in his last two fights. van Roosmalen is one of the top fighters in the world, and it will be interesting to see how both fighters adapt after their first fight.

In the other title bout, Alex Pereira returns to defend his GLORY Middleweight Title against number one contender Yousri Belgaroui. It will be the third encounter between the two fighters. Belgaroui beat Pereira and former champ Jason Wilnis to win the middleweight contender tourament at GLORY 40. After beating Simon Marcus to win the middleweight title, Pereira successfully defended the crown with a fourth round stoppage win over Belgaroui last December. Pereira has been inactive since. Belgaroui demolished Dawid Kasperski in two rounds at GLORY 53 on May 12.

Additional fights for the GLORY 55 main card and the GLORY 55 Superfight Series will be announced in the coming weeks.

Tickets for GLORY 55 go on sale Monday May 28.
