GLORY 54 Results: Prelims to the Prelims
Two bouts on last Saturday’s GLORY 54 fight card weren’t streamed or televised. In a 68 kg catchweight bout, Joe Himsworth defeated Brad Stanton by split decision. Scores were 30-27 on 3 scorecards, 29-28, and one 28-29 score for Stanton.

In a lightweight contest(70kg), Dean Pattison defeated Ciaran Smith by unanimous decision. All five judges scored the bout for Pattison by a shutout of 30-27.

Holzken: “I miss kickboxing”

Former GLORY Welterweight king Nieky Holzken posted Tuesday that he misses the sport of kickboxing. Holzken has been focusing on his boxing career as of late, fighting three times in 2018. Holzken was a late substitute for the injured Jurgen Brahmer in the World Boxing Super Series, and acquitted himself well in a decision loss to top contender Callum Smith in the semifinals. He returned to the boxing ring for another knockout win in April. With Holzken being quiet about fighting in kickboxing again and now age 34, it seemed like the fighter had decided to move on to boxing in search of bigger paydays. The good news is Holzken appears interested in competing in kickboxing again and has regained his fire after losing motivation for a while.

As a former welterweight champion and a big name in the Netherlands, a Harut Grigorian-Holzken fight would be a good draw for one of the GLORY events later this year in Europe. Hopefully, we will get to see this fight happen as you get the sense their styles would make for a great fight.

Two Fights Scheduled for June 23 ONE Super Series
MMA organization One Fighting Championship has one kickboxing and also a Muay Thai fight scheduled for their June 23 event in Macau. The ONE Super Series kickboxing bout will pit kickboxing and MMA veteran Alain Ngalani against Tarik Khbabez, a Netherlands based veteran who won a Superkombat tournament in 2014. The Muay Thai bout features Lerdsila Phuket Top Team against Sok Thy.

GLORY Veteran Verbeek Facing Thai Fighter in Hong Kong
Duello Sports Management announced that their client Isis Verbeek will face a Thai fighter on an all women’s event called “All Girl Fight”. All Girl Fight takes place on June 29 at the Southorn Stadium in Mongkok, Hong Kong. Verbeek, 23, is based out of the Netherlands, and competed for GLORY in 2016, defeating Irina Mazaepa on points before losing a decision to Amel Dehby.
