Mix Fight Events held a big fight gala Sunday at the Mika Stadium in Yerevan, Armenia.
The fight card featured both K-1 rules kickboxing bouts and also MMA, with two title fights on the bill.
Armenian fighters Razmik Ghulinyan and David Khachatryan pleased the large crowd with victories in the title fights.
“El Caballero” Wins WKL Kickboxing Title Fight
Armenian fighter Razmik “El Caballero” Ghulinyan scored a first-round knockdown en route to a decision win over Manuel Garcia Pereira of Spain. Ghulinyan caught a Garcia kick, and then unloaded a couple of punches that dropped Garcia. Ghulinyan countered Garcia’s kicks with punches, and his punches at close range were the most effective scoring technique in the bout.
Garcia landed a few low kicks and shots, but Ghulinyan pressed the action and scored the heavier blows to earn the victory.
Nazaryan Defeats Martin
In another Spain vs Armenia battle under K-1 rules, Armenia’s Gor Nazaryan impressed in a decision win over Angel Martin. Nazaryan was the smaller and quicker fighter, and scored effectively with punches as Martin closed the distance. Nazaryan also landed some clean low kicks, and nice right legs to the body. Martin had some success with the jab early, but got the worse of the exchanges and appeared stunned by a Nazaryan left in round three.
Pogosyan, Emiev Victorious
Sergey Pogosyan and Arbi Emiev won their respective bouts. Emiev, who recently won a traditional Thai rules fight in Germany (hand wraps only-no gloves), stopped Goga Jalagonia in round three of their 72 kg battle.
An Emiev high kick dropped the tiring Jalagonia. The Georgian fighter arose, but Emiev followed up with some punches that snapped Jalagonia’s head back. As Jalagonia absorbed punishment on the ropes, the referee intervened. Emiev had the edge in the bout, but was given a yellow card in round one for hitting on the break.
Pogosyan mixed up his punches and kicks nicely, and was too sharp for the tough Venezuelan Sortino.
In the final bout of the evening, Armenian MMA fighter David Khachatryan won a decision victory over Simone Bottino in a WMMAL European Title Fight.
