Anissa Meksen will get a chance to avenge her highly controversial decision loss to Jady Menezes.
Glory Kickboxing announced today that the French fighter will face her Brazilian nemesis in a Glory super bantamweight title rematch at Glory 61. Glory 61 takes place on Friday November 2 at the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City.
Meksen seemed to dominate Menezes in their fight at Glory 56 in August, but the judges somehow awarded the decision to the Brazilian. A number of fans complained about the decision on social media, and both Glory and the Colorado commission were criticized. Meksen spoke of filing a protest regarding the decision. Lawyers and paperwork are no longer necessary: she’ll get the chance to settle the controversy with her fists and feet.
In the other Glory 61 title bout, lightweight king Sitthichai of Thailand defends his crown against Josh Jauncey of Canada. Sitthichai will be making his sixth defense of the lightweight title against Jauncey, who earned a title shot with decision wins over contenders Chris Baya and Stoyan Koprivlenski. Jauncey and Sitthichai previously met back in 2015, a bout won by the Thai via unanimous decision.
In another Glory 61 match up, featherweight contender Massaro Glunder faces former interim titlist Kevin Vannostrand.
Here is the current fight card, with “additional bouts” to be added soon. Also, the Glory 61 prelims will be announced in the coming weeks.
