GLORY Kickboxing announced this morning a couple of late changes to Saturday’s Glory 53 Superfight Series card at the Zénith de Lille in Lille, France. Former middleweight champion Jason Wilnis and talented young welterweight Mohamed Jaraya have both been forced to withdraw from their scheduled bouts.

Wilnis was scheduled to face top ranked Yousri Belgaroui in a middleweight fight with title shot implications. Wilnis had to pull out for “medical reasons”. Jaraya was slated to face Argentina’s Alan “Superboy” Scheinson, but suffered an injury and was replaced last week.

Belgaroui will now face Poland’s Dawid Kasperski. Scheinson will now face Romania’s Anghel “The Grasshopper” Cardos.

Here is the updated fight card for Saturday. The GLORY 53 Superfight Series will stream live on UFC Fight Pass beginning at 1pm ET/10am PT.

Verhoeven-Brestovac Upgraded to GLORY Heavyweight Title Fight
In other GLORY Kickboxing news, the promotion announced that the heavyweight clash between reigning heavyweight champion Rico Verhoeven and Mladen “The Scorpion Sting” Brestovac at GLORY 54 June 2 in the UK has been changed to a heavyweight title fight. Originally, the bout was a three round non-title affair.

“With this being our long-awaited return to the UK, we wanted to do something special for the fans in Birmingham,” GLORY CEO Marshall Zelaznik stated in the press release. “We’ll have back-to-back title fights capping off what’s sure to be an unforgettable night.”

The other title bout scheduled for GLORY 54 is an intriguing welterweight clash between newly minted titlist Harut Grigorian and top contender Alim Nabiyev.

With the GLORY 54 main card now featuring two title fights, the promotion has moved the lightweight clash between Elvis Gashii and William Goldie-Galloway from GLORY 54 to the GLORY 54 Superfight Series that takes place before the main card.

Here is the updated GLORY 54 and GLORY 54 Superfight Series cards. Russian Muay Thai champ Aleksei Ulanov has stepped in to face Britain’s Bailey Sugden, replacing Anvar Boynazarov.

No News on Pereira
Still no updates on the status of GLORY Middleweight champion Alex Pereira. The Brazilian power puncher had posted a picture of himself with a UFC contract on Instagram a couple of days ago, raising questions about whether he was leaving for MMA or taking a break from kickboxing. The picture has since been deleted.
