Fight fans in the greater Las Vegas area are in for a treat, as Lion Fight Promotions announced its return to “Sin City” on Saturday March 30.
Lion Fight 53 takes place at the Downtown Las Vegas Event Center, a popular outdoor venue that hosts concerts and also plays host to nationally televised boxing events.
Lion Fight 53 marks a homecoming of sorts for the Las Vegas-based promotion. It’s where it all started. Former casino executive Scott Kent formed Lion Fight there, and the organization regularly promoted events in its hometown before it expanded nationally and overseas.
Artem “The Lion” Levin, Simon Marcus, Jorina Baars, Joe Schilling, Tiffany Van Soest, and Kevin Ross all fought under the Lion Fight banner at the Vegas events. The shows drew a good audience, and also received national and international attention.
“We are very excited about returning to Vegas. It is a bit of a homecoming for us as an organization, that’s true, but more than anything there is just that atmosphere of having a grand fight spectacle in Las Vegas,” Lion Fight CEO Kent said via email.
“The Downtown Events Center is an awesome venue and having our fighters competing there live on CBS Sports Network will make for (a) phenomenal experience,” he said.
USA vs Netherlands in Lion Fight 53 Main Event
Headlining the Lion Fight 53 card is a super fight between two young fighters with impressive credentials. Unbeaten Steve “Put Em to Sleep” Walker battles Badr Ferdaous, who fights out of the Netherlands.
Walker (6-0, 5 KOs) is the reigning Lion Fight North American Super Cruiserweight champion. The hard-hitting Boston fighter posted stoppage wins over veteran William Syripai and Latvian standout Kristaps Zile last year. The win over Ziles ended the Latvian’s ten fight win streak.
Ferdaous trains at the Fitness Gym Okinawa under the tutelage of Dutch legend Peter Aerts. He’s one of Aert’s top students, and will be looking to impress in his U.S. debut before the Vegas crowd and the national television audience on the CBS Sports Network (11 pm ET/8 pm PT).
“I am also very excited about having Peter Aerts’ number-one student on our card against the best American super cruiserweight – the very dangerous Steve Walker,” said Kent.
“ And I think Muay Thai fans are going to really like the other bouts we’re going to add and they’re going to love being part of this event.”
Lion Fight 53 Undercard
Two bouts were officially announced for the Lion Fight 53 undercard. Ricardo Mixco faces Anthony Castrejon in a featherweight bout.
Andy Nguyen makes her Lion Fight Debut. The MMA veteran faces Magalie Alvarez in a flyweight contest.

Unbeaten Jordan Harris, from nearby Palmdale, is also scheduled for action. Harris faces Amine Ballafrikh, a Moroccan who resides in Virginia, in defense of his Lion Fight North American Lightweight title.
Lion Fight 51 will be broadcast nationally on the CBS Sports Network beginning at 11 pm ET/8 pm PT. Other bouts will be announced soon.
Lion Fight 52
Lion Fight returns to Ireland on Saturday March 16 for an event in collaboration with Capital 1 / Siam Warriors. Headlining the fight card is a Lion Fight World Light Heavyweight Title fight between two international standouts.
