Lion Fight Returning to Italy with Tournament

Lion Fight Promotions, America’s biggest Muay Thai organization, is returning to Italy for an event to be held in Sicily on 21 December.

The fight card will include a “Road to Lion Fight” four-man middleweight tournament (71 kg/160 lbs), “with the winner earning a future bout on a Lion Fight card in the United States”, according to the organization.

Italian fighters Salvatore Blandizzi, Samuele Poertale, Jacopo Tarantino, and Luca Tagliarino will battle it out with the winner gaining a prestigious tournament title and the opportunity to fight stateside.

The 21 December fight card in Sicily is Lion Fight’s second visit to Italy. Lion Fight 55 was held at the Candy Arena in the city of Monza last May. Lion Fight has also held events in France, Ireland, and the United Kingdom previously.

The event is being promoted in association with Trinacria Team, Top Ring, and Fight 1, with more fights to be officially announced in the coming weeks.

Lion Fight CEO Scott Kent is looking forward to returning to Italy for another event featuring the “Road to Lion Fight” tournament.

“We (are) very happy to launch the path for another high-caliber fighter to get a much-deserved chance to become a big name with Lion Fight,” said Kent.

“We have enjoyed a great deal of success of with our past events in Europe, especially Lion Fight 55 which took place in Monza, Italy. It’s very exciting to be back in Italy and setting the stage for Road to Lion Fight.”
