Lion Fight Promotions announced Thursday the organization extended the contract of Southern California Muay Thai veteran Josh “El Gato” Aragon. Lion Fight has also signed female MMA fighter Andy Nguyen to a deal, with Nguyen slated to debut for the organization in the spring.
Aragon fights out of the well-respected Sityodtong LA academy. He’s won 14 of 18 professional contests, and competed both locally and internationally. In his last bout at Lion Fight 50, Aragon got the better of Chris Mauceri to win a decision before a lively local crowd.
Nguyen, 36, is nicknamed “The CrAsian”. Fighting out of Charleston, South Carolina, Nguyen has competed in MMA for such organizations as Rizin FF, King of The Cage, and Legacy FC. Despite being known as an MMA competitor, Nguyen has a background in Muay Thai.
Nguyen is the second female fighter recently added to the Lion Fight roster. Candice K Mitchell, a Canadian fighter who has spent time training in Thailand, was recently signed by the promotion.
In other Lion Fight news, the promotion also extended the contract of unbeaten prospect Ricardo Mixco (2-0).
Lion Fight is broadcast in the United States on the CBS Sports Network, which is available in millions of homes via cable and satellite providers. The promotion recently held its historic Lion Fight 50 event at the famed LA Coliseum.
