Lion Fight returned to the Foxwoods Resort & Casino in Mashantucket, Connecticut on Saturday night for Lion Fight 46. No judges were required, as every bout on the main card ended either by knockout or TKO.
In the main event, Steve “Put Em to Sleep” Walker lived up to his nickname, with another impressive stoppage victory. Marcos Vasquez overcame some bruising leg kicks to stop Carlos Lopez in an entertaining battle.
Here are the results:
Steve Walker def. Kristaps Zile- TKO 4 (Walker Wins Lion Fight Super Cruiserweight International Title)
Walker was extended into the fourth round by the Latvian veteran before he finally unleashed his devastating power. The unbeaten Walker, nicknamed “Put Em to Sleep”, was patient as he took the fight to Zile. Zile was content to fight off the back foot and look for openings. After Walker landed a couple of good punches and a nice sweep in round one, Zile landed a solid right during an exchange in round two. Walker landed a solid body kick in round three, and a high kick looked to partially get through on Zile. In the fourth, Walker lined up Zile for a big right hook that dropped him. Zile was able to beat the count, but after he was caught with another high kick that dropped him, the fight was waved off. Walker improves to 6-0 (5 KOs). Zile is now 28-12, and his ten fight win streak was snapped.
Marcos Vasquez def. Carlos Lopez-KO 4 Super Lightweights
Lopez landed the low kick regularly on Vasquez, who mainly looked to score with punches. Vasquez ate some solid low kicks but kept coming forward. In the fourth, Vasquez caught a kick and threw a high kick that connected on Lopez. Lopez took a knee and was counted out-it looked like Lopez got caught in the eye. Vasquez is now 6-2. Lopez is 6-4.
Yeison Berdugo def. Fernando Perez-TKO 4 Super Lightweights
Berdugo improved his record to 3-2 with fourth round stoppage of Perez. Berdugo was able to land some good punches on the tough Perez, who looked to close the distance. Perez got inside and worked knees to the body. In the fourth, a Berdugo low kick hurt Perez and dropped him. After he arose, another low kick dropped Perez again, earning Berdugo the stoppage win. Perez is now 1-3.
Keeman Diop def. Hero Vincent- KO 3 Middleweights
Diop finally caught up to the mobile Vincent in round three, dropping him with an elbow before finishing him off with a high kick. Vincent, a southpaw, moved a lot. Diop scored with a couple of trips in the first round, but Vincent landed a good right hand after catching a kick. Diop continued to control the center of the ring in round two. In round three, Diop ended the bout with the kick. Vincent couldn’t beat the count and the bout was stopped by referee Big Dan. Diop improves to 2-0. Vincent is 0-1.
Michael Triana def. Alexis Chavarria-TKO 4 Lightweights
Triana bounced back from his decision loss to Jordan Harris in July with a stoppage win over Chavarria. The stream was down for a while, but I was able to see the end: Triana landed some punches that stunned Chavarria, and the ref gave an eight to Chavarria. Triana landed some more punches and the bout was stopped. Triana improves to 5-1. Chavarria is now 1-1-2.
