After an injury-plagued 2018, Danish standout Niclas R Larsen says he is ready to get back in the ring.
The GLORY and Kunlun Fight veteran is set to meet China’s Liu Hainan in the alternate bout of the four-man KLF 70 KG Intercontinental Championship Tournament taking place on 14 September at Kunlun Fight 83 in Guizhou, China.
Larsen was forced to withdraw from two high-profile bouts last year.
He was unable to face Thai legend Buakaw Banchamek in a Muay Thai bout for the All Star Fight promotion because of a “terrible skin infection.”
Larsen then sustained an injury to his left leg which required surgery, and a scheduled November bout with another top Danish fighter Youssef Assouik was cancelled.
Now the fighter, whose career nearly ended due to a dangerous staph infection a few years ago, says he is eager to fight again and make the most of his abilities.
“I will travel to China in about 2 weeks to fight their local hero in Kunlun Fight. “I’m so excited to bring fireworks in the ring again!,” Larsen wrote on Facebook.
“I’ve been out of the sport for sometime and I have been working a lot on my mental game. I feel the hunger to fight again, I know that I haven’t reach my potential yet so that’s is what I’ve been working on !!”
“14 September the show will be shown and I will fight a reserve fight for the kunlun tournament which means that I can risk to fight two times at the same night if anything happens to the finalist of the tournament.”
“I’m back for more !!!!”
