Tough news for Glory and Kunlun Fight veteran Niclas R Larsen. The Danish fighter injured his left leg and had to undergo surgery, forcing Larsen to cancel scheduled fights in November and December.
Larsen was scheduled to fight fellow Glory veteran Youssef Assouik in an anticipated match up between top Danish kickboxers on November 3 at Honour of the Ring. Four weeks later, Larsen was slated to face top German fighter Enriko Kehl at another event.
Adnan Faraj, the promoter of Honour of the Ring events, announced that Larsen was injured today on social media.
Larsen has had his share of ups and downs this year. He had to pull out of a fight with Buakaw earlier in the year because of a “terrible skin infection”. He bounced back to win a Kunlun Fight 70 kg four man tournament, and earned a place in the Final 16. Marouan Toutouh defeated Larsen on points in the Final 16 to bounce him from the tournament.
Faraj stated that Assouif won’t fight on the November 3 show because of the difficulty in finding a new opponent for Youssef on short notice.
