With 20 shows planned for 2019, King of Kings is one of the most active kickboxing organizations in the world.
Here’s some recent news involving the KOK promotion.
KOK Returning to Turkey
KOK announced today it will promote an event in Turkey on 02 March. It’s the third Turkey show for the promotion in less than a year-KOK had a massive debut in Sarkoy last summer with over 15,000 fans in attendance.
Like previous Turkey events, the fight card is a collaboration with Mr. Erkan Varol, the top Turkish fighter and official KOK Turkey representative.
This event will be held in the city of Sakarya, a new venue for the group. The second KOK World Series Turkey event was held last December in Istanbul.
It’s On! Lightweight Title Fight Official for KOK 69
Combat sports channel FightBox HD announced Tuesday the KOK lightweight title fight between champion Vitalie Matei and top contender Henrikas Viksraitis will take place at KOK 69 on 16 March in Vilnius, Lithuania. KOK 69 takes place at the Siemens Arena, and will be broadcast internationally on FightBox HD and the KOK Fights TV streaming platform.
Matei won the vacant title in October. Previous champion Dorel Cristian was injured and unable to defend the crown, so the organization declared the championship vacant.
Matei, a previous tournament winner, was selected to face Andrei Leustean of Romania for the vacant title. The Moldovan defeated the Scorpion’s Gym fighter via decision to become the new -71 kg division kingpin.
Viksraitis is unbeaten in close to a dozen bouts in KOK, according to FightBox commentator and journalist Daniel Austin. The Lithuanian challenger will have a big hometown crowd behind him as he tries to become the second KOK champion from the Baltic nation alongside the organization’s -93 kg champion Sergej Maslobojev. Maslobojev is also scheduled to appear on the KOK 69 card in a non-title bout.
