Henrikas Viksraitis is the new KOK World Lightweight Champion, defeating Vitalie Matei by five-round split decision Saturday in Vilnius, Lithuania.

A crowd of over 10,000 fans at the Siemens Arena and international viewing audience witnessed a tactical encounter. Viksraitis enjoyed a height advantage of roughly 13 cm (5.1 inches), and kept a high guard and sought to counter. He landed the inside low kick regularly, and used his jab well and looked for knee counters

Matei’s best weapon is his punches, and he landed a good right hand in round one, and also scored with left hooks and body punches. The Moldovan looked for openings up the middle or around the gloves of the challenger when Viksraitis used the high guard.

There were no knockdowns or eight counts, and neither fighter ever looked in serious danger. The judges favored the Lithuanian fighter by a 2-1 margin, although veteran fight commentator Sandy Holt at ringside gave the edge to Matei.

A weight cut may have affected Viksraitis. The FightBox announcing team mentioned the fighter had to lose weight after he came in heavy, and the Lithuanian even shaved his beard!

Daniel Austin and Sandy Holt called the action for FightBox HD and KOK Fights TV.

Some of the fight card was not broadcast on either FightBox or KOK Fights TV. I was informed some fights were only available on a different channel, but here are the results I have available.
