News: Glory Champion Verhoeven Going “Undercover”, Ilunga Retains Title, German Fighter Signs with ONE

Glory Heavyweight Champion Rico Verhoeven landed an acting role on the second season of the Netflix action show Undercover, according to reports by RTL and Vechtsport Info. The shows featuring Verhoeven will air sometime in 2020.

It’s the second big role landed by Rico. He was also cast last year in the lead role of an action film entitled The Black Lotus, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

Verhoeven’s next ring performance of course is the anticipated mega-fight rematch with Badr Hari taking place on 21 December at Glory: Collision 2.

Ilunga Retains Title

Former It’s Showtime champion and longtime Glory contender Danyo “Dibuba” Ilunga was in action Thursday night at the Steko’s Fight Night event in Munich, Germany. Ilunga retained his WKU Title with a victory over Dutchman Brian Douwes. Congo’s Ilunga is 2-0 since parting ways with Glory late last year. In June, he defeated another Dutch veteran Fred Sikking by stoppage.

In other title bouts on the card, WKU Women’s -62,5 Kg Champion Marie Lang defeated Rola Khaled, and 75 kg titlist Dardan Morina defeated Erkan Varol of Turkey.

ONE Signs Young German Fighter

German female fighter Christina Breuer signed a “Multi-Fight Deal” with the ONE Championship promotion. Breuer’s co-managers Worldwide Fight Management made the announcement on social media earlier this week. The 21-year-old Breuer joins Amber Kitchen of the UK and Ekaterina “Barbie” Vandaryeva as young European female fighters recently signed by ONE, who is putting together a solid roster of young female talents.

Worldwide Fight Management also announced it signed Croatia’s Mijhailo Kecojevic to a three-year management contract. Kecojevic is a teammate of hard-hitting young heavyweight Rade Opacic, who recently won the four-man heavyweight tournament at the Enfusion event in Belgrade. Kecojevic also competed at the event, where he lost a decision to Enfusion Heavyweight Champion Levi Rigters in a non-title bout.
