Former GLORY and current Bellator champion Gabriel Varga uploaded a video to his YouTube channel in which the Canadian standout discusses fighter pay.
According to Varga, a “high level” kickboxer can expect to make a “little below” fighters competing at the “entry to mid tier” in the UFC.
Varga recalls making only $500 for his professional kickboxing debut, and made $20,000 for fighting two fights in the GLORY 8 eight-man featherweight tournament. The tournament winner received $100,000 and the runner-up $50,000, according to the fighter.
Varga reminds aspiring champions “you have to love this sport. You’re not doing this sport to become a millionaire.”
