Former It’s Showtime champion and GLORY veteran Danyo “Dibuba” Ilunga announced his next fight on social media Tuesday.
Ilunga faces veteran Dutch fighter Fred Sikking as part of the Steko’s Fight Night event taking place on 19 June in Germany.
It’s the first bout for Ilunga since a stoppage loss to Britain’s James McSweeney at the Mix Fight Championship 25 event last December. After the bout, Ilunga was released from his GLORY contract, with a report circulating GLORY disapproved of Ilunga facing the much bigger McSweeney.
Before the McSweeney loss, Ilunga was in good form, with wins against Michael Duut and Fraser Weightman, and a controversial decision loss to GLORY Light Heavyweight Champion Artem Vakhitov at GLORY 56 last August.
Many fans complained online about the scoring in the Vakhitov-Ilunga bout, with the general consensus Ilunga was the winner.
“It’s on 🔥 on Wednesday 19.06 I return to the ring on the @steko_s fight Night. I am a fighter and accept every chance and every challenge. I’m looking forward to German soil again 🇩🇪 live on Kabel 1 live my passion 👏🏽👏🏽 my opponent will be @fred_sikking 🔥, a strong fighter from Holland, with whom I have already trained at Voß Gym Amsterdam one or the other times ..As I said, I’m looking forward to it,” Ilunga wrote on his Instagram page (translated).
