Turkish fighter Vedat Hoduk was the winner of a four-man 77 kg tournament in France this weekend. The tournament was held under K-1 rules and took place at the Nuit Des Titans event held in Tours, France.
Hoduk defeated Armen Hovhannisyan of Armenia by decision in the semifinals, and then knocked out France’s Zakaria Laaouatni in spectacular fashion to claim the tournament championship.
Laaouatni advanced to the finals with a third-round TKO win over Saifullah Hambakhadov, a fighter from the Russian Federation.
Against Laaoutani, Hoduk started out banging the body and throwing low kicks. The two fighters exchanged, and Hoduk caught the Frenchman with a big left hook that knocked him down and out.
Laaoutani landed on his back and was out. The referee quickly took his mouthpiece out to signal the end of the contest. It was one of the best knockouts of a weekend that had a great tornado kick KO in Romania, and also some exciting stoppages at the Enfusion event in Tenerife.
