Popular Dutch-Moroccan female fighter Esma “Fight Queen” Hasshass will return to the ring at the FEA event on October 6 in Moldova, the fighter announced Monday. Hasshass faces Feride Kirat of Turkey as part of the big “Fortune Favors the Brave” gala promoted by FEA in the Moldovan capital of Chisinau.
Hasshass was seriously injured in an automobile accident, which she described in detail recently when interviewed by Dutch website Vice NL. Hasshass battled through the physical and psychological pain and returned to the ring at KOK 56 in March, also in Chisinau. Hasshass seemed to get the better of Nadejda Cantir in the first ever KOK female title fight, but the judges awarded the decision to Cantir, who was the hometown fighter.
There was talk of Hasshass and Cantir fighting a rematch. That plan appears to be on hold since Cantir is scheduled to face Ukrainian Anna Avakova at the event. If Cantir and Hasshass both prevail on October 6, a rematch is a natural for the near future.
“Fortune Favors the Brave” includes a number of other noteworthy competitors. There will be a four man heavyweight tournament featuring Roman Kryklia of the Ukraine, Tomas Hron of the Czech Republic, ACB Kickboxing champion Tsotne Rogava of Georgia, and veteran Daniel Lentie. Some of Moldova’s top fighters including Stanislav Renita and Dorel Cristian are also scheduled for action.
