Glory Kickboxing executive Scott W. Rudmann announced that Saturday’s Glory 59 event in Amsterdam delivered a knockout at the box office and also on Dutch television.
According to Rudmann, over 12,000 fans ventured to the Johan Cruijff Arena to witness Glory 59 live and in-person. Glory 59 was headlined by a heavyweight title fight featuring Dutch star Rico Verhoeven against Guto Inocente of Brazil. Verhoeven successfully defended his title with a unanimous decision victory. It was the first kickboxing gala held at the arena, formerly known as the Amsterdam Arena, in years.
Glory 59 also attracted a large television viewing audience, according to the announcement. Over 25 percent of the people watching television in Holland at the time (26.2 %) tuned in to watch the event.
It’s great news for Glory and the sport for to see the large amount of public interest in the Netherlands and worldwide for Glory 59.
