The official press conference for the long-awaited rematch between GLORY World Heavyweight Champion Rico Verhoeven and arch-rival Badr Hari takes place tomorrow, Thursday October 17, in Utrecht, Netherlands.
The event will be streamed live on the GLORY Kickboxing YouTube Channel and Facebook page beginning at 4 p.m. local Dutch time, which is 3 p.m. in London, 10 a.m. in New York and 7 a.m. In Los Angeles.
According to the press release, the two fighters haven’t met face-to-face since their first bout in 2016, won by Verhoeven via second-round TKO due to injury.
Perhaps Verhoeven will be asked about his contractual status. It’s been reported Rico is no longer under contract with GLORY, and it’s been rumored he spoke with another promoter but his asking price was too high.
For Hari, one wonders why he decided to change trainers before the biggest fight of his career? Hari replaced longtime coach Michael “Big Mike” Passenier with Said El Badaoui during the summer.
Rico has also started acting since the first match with Hari, and it’s possible we’ll learn more about his upcoming plans. Maybe Hari will be asked about the circumstances surrounding his positive drug test after the Hesdy Gerges rematch and subsequent suspension.
There are a lot of interesting subplots heading into the 21 December rematch, and hopefully the fans will hear some answers tomorrow.
