GLORY lightweight contenders Josh Jauncey (#5 ranked) and Itay Gershon (#7) will meet at next month’s GLORY 68 event taking place on 28 September in Miami, Florida. The bout is finalized, according to a report by Dutch website Vechtsport Info.
Jauncey is coming off a unanimous decison defeat to number-two ranked Tyjani Beztati at GLORY 65 in May. It was the second consecutive loss for the Canadian, who also lost a decision to then-champion Sitthichai Sitsongpeenong in an unsuccessful title challenge last November.
Gershon also lost his last bout. He was on the short end of a split decision versus British standout Luke “Skywalker” Whelan, also at GLORY 65. The bout halted a three-fight win streak for the
Israeli contender, who had defeated Polish warrior Rafal Dudek and Americans Trevor Ragin and Justin Houghton in his first three bouts with the organization.
Also reported as finalized is a super bantamweight bout between rising American prospect Rebekah “Bekah” Irwin and newcomer Crystal Lawson. Former IFMA medalist Irwin, just 18, has impressed in her first two GLORY outings, with clear points wins over Stephanie Skinner and Taylor Jenkins.
Lawson also fights out of the United States, and has an MMA and Muay Thai background.
The GLORY organization has yet to release the fight card for its Miami debut. According to the Vechtsport article, it is rumored Brazilian bomber Alex Pereira will defend his GLORY World Middleweight Title at the event.
