Phoenix Fighting Championship 8-Quick Results (Did not see whole show)
Phoenix Fighting Championship returned to Thailand for another Muay Thai event. The card was stacked with a lot of fights, including four title bouts, and the stream was a success-as of Wednesday over 250,000 views. The event is still available to view on the Phoenix Fighting Championship Facebook page.

Here are results from some of the main bouts. Youssef Boughanem put his name in the Muay Thai record books with his win over Talaytong. His brother Yassine meanwhile was too skilled for tough James McSweeney.

Youssef Boughanem TKO4 Talaytong Sor.Tanaphet-(Wins Lumpinee Stadium Middleweight Title)
Boughanem is also the Rajadamnern Stadium champion, and the Belgian-Moroccan became the first non Thai to hold the Lumpinee and Rajadamnern Stadium titles simultaneously. He is also only the fourth foreigner to win a Lumpinee Stadium championship. Boughanem seemed both quicker and stronger than Talaytong, and turned up the pressure in the third round after the two fighters had mainly traded body kicks in the second round. A tired Talaytong tried to take the fight to Youssef in the fourth round. The Thai was hurt by some punches before he went down from a knee to the body. Youssef landed a couple of body kicks after Talaytong got up and the bout was stopped by the referee.

Phongsiri Phet Por Tor Or UD5 Raffi Singpatong-Wins Vacant Phoenix Welterweight Title
Phet Por Tor Or scored with some good body kicks and was the better fighter in the clinch, landing some good knees to the body and takedowns. The French fighter Singpatong was the aggressor and landed some good elbows, with a mouse forming under Phongsiri’s right eye. The scores were 49-48 on all three cards for Phongsiri.

Yassine Boughanem UD5 James McSweeney-Retains Phoenix Heavyweight Title
Boughanem was too skilled for McSweeney in their anticipated heavyweight match up, controlling the center of the ring and scoring with some good punches and elbows. Boughanem was able to see a lot of McSweeney’s big shots coming and move to avoid them. McSweeney got in a few good licks-including a superman punch in the last round. Boughanem controlled the bout though and won by scores of 49-48 twice and 49-47.

Padseanlek Rachanont WD5 Inseetong Por Phinaphat-140 pound division
Exciting fight in the 140 pound division. Padseanlek built an early points lead and withstood a late rally by Inseetong to win an exciting bout. Padseanlek landed with some quick punch combinations early, while Inseetong fought off the back foot and looked to score with body kicks. In the third, Inseetong started to move forward more, and the fighters worked their knees to the body in the clinch. Inseetong pressed the action in the last round, whipping quick body kicks and looking to land jumping flying knees. Padseanlek was tiring and fought off the back foot.

Other Results:
Tabongpetch WD5 Arthur Mayer
Narak Por Prajak WD5 Superball Sityodtong
Thanunchai Rajanont WD5 Ramo Pet Por Tor Or (Vacant Phoenix 147lb Title)

Zhara Fight Holds Media Day
Action film star and fight promoter Steven Seagal was front and center as the Zhara Fight promotion held a media day for their inaugral May 30 event in Moscow. “The Lion” Artem Levin and Zabit Samedov were also in the house. I reached out to Zhara Fight to see whether there are any streaming options for fight fans outside Russia but haven’t heard back yet. Here is a link to the Zhara Fight media day video.

“Slovakian Giant” fights for belt in Poland
Tomas Mozny will face Tomasz Sarara for the WKN Super Heavyweight belt in Poland Friday night. GLORY fans will remember Mozny. He is 2-1 in GLORY and defeated Daniel Skvor at GLORY 51 in Rotterdam in March. Sarara has competed in the Tatneft Cup and also K-1 in Europe.
