More Info on Superkombat Deal
Kickboxing Z reported a few days ago that Superkombat promoter Eduard Irimia announced his new film venture SK Super Film on social media. Film New Europe offered more information on the deal. Mr. Irimia is partners with producers Moshe Diamant and Christopher Milburn, and the deal is for three years with offerings “inspired by Superkombat and aimed at martial arts and action fans”. According to the short article, the partnership aims to “to produce films and TV product that can take advantage of the new 35% tax rebate in Romania.”

ACB KB Announces More Fights for July 13 Event
ACB Kickboxing made more fights official for ACB KB 16: Clash of Titans. The event takes place on Friday July 13 in Targoviste, Romania, and will be broadcast on ACB TV. The main event between Andrei Stoica and Donegi Abena was announced a few days ago. Two more match ups are now finalized.

Djibril Ehouo of France will face Romania’s Adelin Mihaila. Mihaila is a former European Wushu gold medalist, who competed for the Superkombat promotion. Mihaila won six of eight bouts fighting for SK. Ehouo unsuccessfully challenged Raymond Daniels for the Bellator Kickboxing welterweight championship in April, losing a decision. Ehouo is an accomplished Muay Thai and kickboxing veteran with over 60 victories as a pro.

In a 71kg match up, Stanislav Kazantsev of the Ukraine (24-4) will face Farkhad Akhmedzanov (35-17) of Uzbekistan.

Machado to face Morais at WGP 47
Brazilian promotion WGP announced their next event will take place on Friday July 27 in Curitiba, Brazil. Curitiba has a special place in combat sports history. The city is home to the famed Chute Boxe Academy which produced Vanderlei Silva, Anderson Silva, Shogun and Ninja Rua, and also Jose “Pele” Landi-Jons.

Ariel Machado faces Haime Morais in a heavyweight superfight. Machado is a GLORY veteran who holds victories over interim light heavyweight champion Pavel Zhuravlev and contenders Danyo Ilunga and Zinedine Hameur-Lain. Machado lost a unanimous decision to GLORY light heavyweight king Artem Vakhitov last October in an unsuccessful title challenge.

Morais, also from Brazil, is a veteran of over 40 fights and has gone 4-2 in WGP. He’s coming off a knockout win over Richard Jacobi at WGP 46.

There is also a four man tournament scheduled in the super lightweight division featuring Cesar Paredes, Jordan Kraniq, Ernesto de la Colina, and Magnum Max.

XFN Returns June 29: “Freight Train”, “Hooligan” Scheduled for Action
XFN doesn’t pull any punches when it comes to action within the cage. The kickboxing/MMA promotion, headed by kickboxing legend Dale “Apollo” Cook, usually delivers a night of fun fights and plenty of knockouts and tap outs. Fighters who have gone on to fight in GLORY such as Randy “Boom Boom” Blake and Myron Dennis gained experience and honed their craft fighting in XFN and other regional shows.

XFN announced that its next event XFN 349 will take place on Friday June 29 at the River Spirit Casino in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Super heavyweight champion Haze “The Hooligan” Wilson is scheduled for action. Wilson was scheduled to face Anthony McDonald at GLORY 50 in February before McDonald was a last minute scrap. It was bad luck for Wilson, who had previously been scheduled to face Catalin Morosanu.

In another kickboxing match up, XFN featherweight champion Alfred “Freight Train” Walker will face Jonathan Hines. Walker won an eight man tournament at XFN last year, and is one of the promotion’s top kickboxing talents. He mentioned fighting in Japan in a recent post fight interview, and it would be nice to see him get an opportunity in the future if he continues winning.
