The main event for the King of Kings (KOK) organization’s return to Riga, Latvia on 26 October has been finalized. The KOK World Middleweight Title will be on the line as reigning champion Daniel Forsberg meets top-ranked challenger Jurijs Orlovs.
Fighting out of Turku, Finland, Forsberg has established himself as a force in the KOK middleweight division. He defeated highly-rated Raimonds Aukstikalnis by split decision in a tough battle last October, then captured the vacant title with a unanimous points win over the Latvian in Helsinki in May. A southpaw with heavy hands and powerful low kicks, the tough Forsberg now looks to defeat Orlovs, a countryman and teammate of Aukstikalnis.
Orlovs is known for good boxing skills and is dangerous with his knee techniques. In his last three KOK appearances, the young Latvian has defeated Beni Osmanowski of Switzerland, Lithuanian veteran Tomas Steponkevicius, and Mike Sprangh. The extra-round decision win over Sprangh, who fights out of the world-famous Mike’s Gym in Amsterdam, earned Orlovs the KOK European Middleweight Title.
Orlovs now gets the opportunity to challenge for world honors before a large home crowd at the Arena Riga. The fighters previously met in 2018 at the Moisakula Fight gala in Estonia, where Forsberg prevailed by extra-round decision.
