Friday Night Fights returned to the Broad Street Ballroom in “The Big Apple”, New York City Friday night. The Muay Thai action was broadcast live on UFC Fight Pass. In the main event, Eddie Martinez was simply too much for John Morehouse. On the undercard, Ahmad Ibrahim avenged his sole professional loss with a unanimous points win over Mateo Maldonado.

Eddie Martinez KO 4 John Morehouse (155 lbs)
Local favorite Martinez broke down the game Morehouse, who took the bout on short notice. Martinez got the better of the action in the first, and landed some nice knees to the body in the clinch. Martinez scored with some solid low kicks in the second as he began to pick Morehouse apart. In the third, Martinez dominated in the clinch, banging knees to Morehouse’s legs and sneaking in some knees to the midsection. Morehouse was fading in the fourth but still tried. Martinez threw a jab and followed with a short right hand that connected. Morehouse tried to grab but went down and the bout was waved off by the referee. Official time was 2:26. Martinez improves to 19-5-1 with the win.

Justin Greskiewicz UD5 Bartosz Botwina (147 lbs)
Greskiewicz, a veteran of 60 professional fights, did the better work in a close fight, picking up a unanimous decision by the score of 49-46 on all three judges’ scorecards.

Ahmad Ibrahim UD5 Mateo Maldonado (130lbs)
Maldonado won a decision over Ibrahim when the two fighters made their professional debut against one another in December 2016. Maldonado put the pressure on Ibrahim early in the sequel. In the second, Ibrahim stepped up his output, and landed at least 10 or 15 low kicks. Ibrahim continued to focus on low kicks in the third and fourth, and Maldonado’s left leg showed the effects of absorbing the strikes. Maldonado landed a nice combination of punches in the fifth. The judges scored the bout 50-45, 49-46, and 48-47 for Ibrahim. Ibrahim is now 4-1. Maldonado slips to 1-2.

Jae Salavarrietta SD3 Kelly Cordray (Female, Amateurs)
The televised portion of the card kicked off with a Class B amateur fight. Jae Salavarrietta edged Kelly Cordray by split decision in an evenly matched female 125lb affair. Salavarrietta had the better hands while Cordray did the better clinch work. The judges scored the bout 29-28 twice for Salavarrietta and 29-28 for Cordray.
