Floyd vs Tenshin Exhibition: No Kicks Allowed

The rules for the New Year’s Eve exhibition match in Japan between boxing legend Floyd Mayweather Jr. and RISE kickboxing champion Tenshin Nasukawa were released Thursday.

MMA Fighting posted the rules in the press release distributed by Mayweather’s public relations team.

The exhibition is scheduled for 3 rounds of 3 minutes with eight ounce gloves. There will be no judges, and the fight will not count on either fighter’s record.

The fight is “straight boxing”-no elbows, kicks, or knees are permitted. The weight category for the exhibition is 67.7 kg/147 lbs, which is the welterweight limit in professional boxing. Nasukawa competes at 55 kg, while Mayweather has competed as high as junior middleweight (154 lbs/70 kg) in boxing.

Nasukawa was in Las Vegas Thursday, and participated in a media workout at Mayweather’s gym.
