Enfusion Talents #53 Results from Newcastle upon Tyne

Elvis “El Flaco” Almario of Spain punched his way to victory in the 63kg Tournament final at the Enfusion Talents #53 event Saturday in Newcastle upon Tyne, United Kingdom. Joe Craven of England showed he may be ready to compete in the main Enfusion league with an impressive second round stoppage of Valentin Mojos.

Joe Craven (ENG) KO2 Valentin Mojos (ROM)-72.5kg
Craven was too sharp for Mojos in the Talents main event. After outscoring Mojos in round one, Craven finished off the Romanian with some body shots in the second to earn the victory. Craven improves to 24-3(9). Mojos suffered his first pro loss to slip to 3-1.

Elvis Almario (SPA) KO3 Nathan Ryder (ENG)-Wins 63kg Tournament
Almario outlasted Ryder in a fantastic brawl. England’s Ryder ate a lot of clean punches as he kept coming forward and pressured Almario. Ryder scored a knockdown late in the first round. Almario landed some big shots in the second but Ryder kept coming forward. Early in the third, Almario finally dropped Ryder with a right hand. Ryder got up and Almario hurt him with a left hook downstairs for another eight count. Ryder continued to pressure Almario but a right hand finished off the Englishman with seconds left in the fight. A great effort by Ryder, who showed courage and a huge chin before relenting late. Almario also showed his grit in winning the tournament. “El Flaco” Elmario improves to 18-2-6(7). Ryder is now 8-2(6).

Leigh Newton (ENG) UD4 Sofia Holmer (SWE)-48kg Female
Holmer set a very quick pace early, but slowed down later in the bout. Newton started to come forward more in round two, and let her hands go more in the third stanza. There was a fair amount of clinching with both fighters scoring with knees to the body. In the extra round, Newton was busier fighter and won the unanimous decision. Newton improves to 11-3. Holmer is 2-4.

Jack Bullock (ENG) WD3 Andrei Balici (ROM)-75kg
England’s Bullock improved to 7-0 with a clear points win over Romania’s Balici. Bullock used kicks and knees to wear down the shorter Balici, who began to tire in the second round. The stocky southpaw Balici looked to land big punches, but never landed anything big and was outworked throughout. Bullock improves to 7-0(2). Balici is now 7-1-3(5).

Giachomo Licheri (ITA) KO1 John Cairns (ENG)-67kg
Italian Licheri came out aggressively, and some clean punches led to the ref issuing Cairns an eight count. Licheri kept up the attack and finished off Cairns with a brutal spinning back kick that landed in the liver area. Cairns hit the deck and was visibly in pain and in no position to beat the count. Licheri improves to 13-8(11). Cairns ledger is now 8-2-3(4).

Elvis Almario (SPA) TKO1 Gary Laws (ENG)-63kg Tournament Semifinal 2
Spain’s Almario, nicknamed “El Flaco”, set up a final showdown with Ryder by stopping Laws in less than two minutes. The bout started quickly and Almario dropped Laws with a right hand. Laws got up and was felled by another right hand shortly thereafter. The referee waved off the fight after Laws got up. Official time was 1:57. Laws slips to 12-2-11(1).

Nathan Ryder (ENG) TKO1 Kane Birring (JAM)-63kg Tournament Semifinal 1
Southpaw Ryder came out aggressively, and the pressure eventually overwhelmed Birring. Some body shots helped set up the first knockdown. Ryder kept up the pressure and the referee called an eight count. With Ryder continuing to pressure and Birring offering little resistance, the bout was halted. Birring’s record is now 11-1-4(2).
